DHAKA: Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun Friday said the killers of Bangabandhu were executed and now is the turn of war criminals and 21 August grenade attackers to be tried the same way.

She reaffirmed the government stand while addressing the inaugural ceremony of an eye camp at the T&T Colony School playground in the city. Mayor Mohammad Hanif Memorial Foundation organized the camp.

Home Minister Sahara said the trial of war criminals has already started and reinvestigation into the grenade attack is about to be completed. “Charge-sheet after the reinvestigation would soon be submitted to the court.”

“The government will ensure the trial of war criminals to keep up people’s confidence in it,” she told her audience to underpin the government’s determination to carry through the war-crime trial now underway.

The Home Minister also urged NGOs, corporate offices, donor agencies and rich people to help provide health services to the people in remote areas. “It is difficult for the government alone to ensure the service for all.”

Foundation president Md. Syed Khohan, Senior president Omar Ali, Dhaka Urban Comprehensive Eye Care Project’s country Director Dr. Md. Ohidul Islam and Standard Chartered Bank director Mohammad Shoeb, among others, also spoke at the function.

According to the organizers, over 7,000 patients got treatment from the daylong eye for free. A 30-member medical team conducted the service under supervision of six professors and senior ophthalmologists.
